Reply to John's letter

Dear John,
I'm writing to you on behalf of the band to thank you for your letter. My name is Emma Warne and I've have just turned 16. I am an only child and was born in Macclesfield and have lived here all my life. Macclesfield is a small town in Cheshire in the North West of England and it is where we hold our band rehearsals every Friday night.
Along with some of my fellow band members, I currently attend Fallibroome High School where I chose to take Music for one of my GCSE options. In the band I mostly play the Baritone Horn, although from time to time I help out on percussion when needed. Outside of the band, I have achieved Grade 5 Clarinet and am due to take my Grade 5 Singing exam this June.
I am very sorry to here about your accident when you were just a year old and would like to congratulate you on your success with music. I understand it must have been difficult for you finding a suitable instrument and you have obviously taken on an instrument which was possible for you to hold.
Our band was formed in September 2005 and over the last 4 years has grown rapidly meaning we now have around 90 members. We have two main bands; our youth band and junior the band but we also have a few beginner groups. Recently the band has been involved with various concerts and contests in our local community. The band has been successful in a number of competitions and we enjoy taking part in every one even if we don't win!

In both 2007 and 2008 MYBB won the national award for 'Outstanding Contribution to the Community'at the National Youth Brass Band Championships. This award recognises the work we do in the local community and our charity work we are involved in such as the MDMT. Our charity work has helped to raise money towards a new Young Oncology Unit for teenage patients at Christies Hospital.
We recently created a scheme to provide alto trombones to enable younger children to learn the trombone and the band has also supported the charity Jessies Fund which provides music therapy to seriously ill children.
In July 2007, our band took a tour to Paris and played at various venues. We are now in the middle of planning a trip to Noordwijk in Holland that will take place this coming July. I am very glad to hear the trumpet has gone to a good home and it will be well used. We would love to hear you play some day.We hope you keep in contact with us and write to us again soon or contact us using the MYBB blog website.

Emma W
